Lowell Observatory

This weekend at NAU is parents weekend! Of course, my family couldn't come for just a weekend all the way to Arizona but Mary's Uncle Greg adopted Nandi and I for the weekend. We had a blast and explored all over DTF (Downtown Flagstaff). We went to the Lowell Observatory, the home of where Pluto was discovered! It was absolutely beautiful and unknowlingly educational at the same time. We stayed so late the leader allowed us to take awesome pictures of the moon through the telescope which was pretty awesome. I never knew I would meet such amazing people here in Flagstaff, Arizona but I have to say this is not even close to the end of this wonderful experience. Chipotle

These wonderful ladies are some of my residents here at NAU. They decided to take me on an adventure because I never went to Chipotle before. We had an amazing night together. After Chipotle, we went to McDonald's, Wendy's and Cold-stone. We went all over because everyone wanted different kinds of ice cream. Afterwards, we decided to take a trip to Wal-Mart. I can say we walked all of our food off walking from place to place all over Flagstaff enjoying one another's company!

In Jail all the way in Arizona

Yes, I went to Jail on September 21st at approximately 3:30pm! I didn't go to spend time like you may think but I actually got to tour the jail. As a Resident Advisor, I work on a Criminal Justice Living Learning Community Hall so the leader and I took the group to the jail for a tour. The tour was fascinating and very informative. We didn't just take a peak at the officers and left; we got to see the inmates in minimum, medium and maximum security. First, we got to see where the people are arrested come in first before they even get out of the car. The booking process was explained and we went through that. Also, the officers showed us some protection weapons they sometimes have to utilize. We saw the kitchen and laundry room. We got to walk out on the court where the inmates get outside time. We got to see the medical area. We saw some inmates on visitations. We got to see furlough inmates. I could go on and on about every little thing I saw but to make a long story short we got to see every inch of the jail and see how it is operated. Jail isn't someplace I would want to be but this showed me a different insight and got me kind of interested thinking about the future. Below Pictures: (1) The group before heading to the jail tour (2) Nandi and I on the way to the jail (3) Others from the group on our journey to the jail (4) All of us at the jail waiting for our tour to finally being (5) Sign at the Jail (6) Another Sign at Jail (7) Me in front of the jail right before going in

Sechrist RA Staff

These are the people that made me feel at home since I got here. I feel like I've know this staff my entire life, and for once I can really say NAU is home to me. I don't know how I would have made it here at NAU without Amo, Kyle, J-flo, RJ, Danielle, Colin, Colby, KP(GARHD), Brandon, Kenzie(my awesome co), Rachel, Lauren, Travis, Daniel, Jerad, Justin and Victor(RHD)!!! I LOVE MY SECHRIST STAFF!!!

NAU Letters

This is a picture of all the freshmen and RA's spelling out NAU known as Letters! After the picture, NAU printed out postcards for the freshmen and RA's. I thought this was a really neat idea and just another way to get the freshmen involved and feel at home. This was alot of fun, and in case anyone is wondering, I'm in the U of NAU!
**Hint Hint USC this would be pretty awesome!

The Price is Right

The Price is Right: Live came to NAU. It was free for all NAU students. Even though I didn't get called or didn't win anything I had a blast! Todd Newton was the host and students won some pretty awesome prizes! Somebody won $600. Another guy won a 50inch LG television. Someone else won $200 and a GPS! The Price is Right: Live was an experience I don't think I can ever forget. NAU is bringing some pretty awesome experiences into my life and I can't wait to see what else NAU has in store for me! (We weren't allowed to take pictures while in The Price is Right: Live so I only have before pictures)
Below Pictures: (1) Mary, Marissa, and I with our tickets and name tags waiting to enter The Price is Right: Live (2) Mary and I excited and ready to win some prizes!

Running of the Freshmen

Running of the Freshmen is a unique experience at NAU! This is where the freshmen and RA's run ahead of the football team at the first home game. This helps with school spirit and gets the freshmen involved. I had an awesome time and this was something I never experienced before. Below pictures: (1) RA Brandon, RJ, Colin, Jerad, Travis (2) RA Jessica, Brandon and I waiting to run in (3) RA Danielle, Jessica and I running across the field with the freshmen (4) Sechrist RA's after we ran across the field! It was an awesome time!
***Hint Hint...USC should think about doing something cool like this, because it really gets the freshmen excited and involved!

Coconino County Fair

I had an awesome time at the Fair today! We got to see live animals, eat funnel cakes, eat churros, see gypsy dancers and so much more things I would be here all day naming them all! I even bought a new authentic Indian bag which I absolutely love! I am definitely enjoying Flagstaff, Arizona and all the activities you can do here! This has been an awesome fun-filled weekend and after the break tomorrow back to school work I go!

-Ti'a until next time...pooped from an awesome weekend

Trip to Sedona

Some friends and I took a trip to Sedona today! On the way to Sedona we stopped and hiked up the mountain to visit the Creek (Greek Creek as NAU students call it)! I had an amazing time. This was like nothing I've ever seen before; I've only seen this in movies! I am so glad I decided to go and take an adventure. After our hike, we went into Sedona and had lunch at Wildflower. Also, we visited the Fudge Shop and went sightseeing. I am absolutely exhausted from all day but it was worth it. I feel so comfortable like I've known people here for years because we get along so well. Tomorrow we are continuing this adventure and going to the Coconino County Fair. I'm excited for another adventure. Good thing we don't have classes Monday on Labor Day (which is my birthday I might add! I'll be 20!!!) so I can sleep in and catch up on work that I pushed aside to do over the weekend! These trips are way better than homework but I'll be sure to get it ALL done. I finally have my laptop back all fixed, so I can actually post some pictures for you all! Stay posted to hear about my trip to the Fair Tomorrow!
