Girl's Night Out or RA Night Out?

My friend Julz (from USC) and I went out to watch Django and have dinner together! We had a fabulous time together except we continuously talked about RA stuff and residents since she is also a RA. I feel like being a RA has not taken over my life but it has become more than just a job to me. Being a RA has become something I totally love, and even on my time away from school, I talk to my residents and continue to be there for them. A RA is more than just being in a leadership position while in the residence hall but it is about being a leader and role model at all times. Like my RHD used to say we are truly now living in a fish bowl! Yes, my girl's night out kind of turned in a RA night out!

(1) I can't believe it...we met freshman year...a short 3 years ago and now we are inseparable!

(3) DJANGO was awesome! Go watch it!

My Night In

My mom's night out = my night in which I did not mind at all! Obtaining a degree is a lot of work and I find myself always doing something for school I never get time to pleasure read anymore. For the past for ever I fee like, I have been trying to read The Hunger Games series and this break I did just that. I borrowed the books from RA Danielle from NAU and that was the best decision I made. I'm enjoying all the books and I can't wait to get back to talk about them all with Danielle!

Mom's Night Out

My mom graduated from Lincoln High School and every year the school has a ball for all the Alumni the day after Christmas as a fundraiser for scholarships for the upcoming graduating class. I was so excited to see my mom go out with all her friends and classmates to have a good time. She really deserved a night where she could get all dolled up and spend time with her friends! I love my mommy and she deserves the best and if it's left up to me she will get that and more!

Senior Citizen Christmas

Working with Berkeley connects me to many different organizations in the community, and I was fortunate enough to be able to work with the seniors in the Mt. Pleasant, Awendaw and South Santee area. This Christmas the supervisor over the senior centers got Christmas lists from all the seniors. An organization known as Families Helping Families: Palmetto Project got donations and was able to bless the seniors with an ample amount of gits. Seeing all the seniors happy and excited was definitely the highlight of my holiday experience this year. If you would like to see what Families Helping Families: Palmetto Project is all about visit palmettoproject.org.

Pictures: I was not able to get pictures of the seniors opening their gifts because I was in charge of handing the gifts out and making sure they all went to the right person, but trust me when I say the smile on their faces was more than enough to light up my holiday break!

Berkeley Electric Cooperative

Berkeley Electric Cooperative (BEC) only means one thing to me which is work. My plane touched down on Sunday night and I went to work on Monday morning. BEC is an electric company and I work with the vice president of community services. I love serving the community with Mrs. Green and I really enjoy my job explaining why I went to work so soon when I came home!

Surprise!

My mommy surprised me when I got home by redecorating my entire room in a Christmas/Gamecock theme. I absolutely loved it and these are the memories I love making because they are so memorable. I did not know how much I missed home until I actually got there. I missed my little home in Awendaw, SC more than I thought I ever would and I am going to enjoy my short time home before I return to my great Lumberjack Journey!

 (1) My comfortable Queen Size bed that I can't get enough of

Ready for Take Off!

Need I say more...the pictures explain it all!

As soon as I checked my luggage and got my plane ticket, I was ready to go! Getting these tickets made me so excited and I could not wait any longer. Even though I didn't want to wait, I couldn't rush the plane so I impatiently sat there until they called us to board the plane!

Fun in the Snow with Sechrist RA's

The snow has officially trapped us here in Flagstaff and only a few decided to take a chance and make it home through the snowy weather! Since barely anyone left today, (Saturday, December 15) Sechrist RA's, being full of optimism, didn't let the snow keep us from having a good ole time. We all went outside and played in the snow and had a great time! I definitely had a blast and being together kept our minds off of not being able to leave.

Errands in the Snow with the Co

Flagstaff is getting a lot of snow and interfering with our trips home to start our winter vacation. My co, Kenzie, decided to go to a couple of stores, so RJ, Amo and I went with her. I was scared since I've never drove nor rode around in snow before. In Charleston, SC, when there is a little snow or ice we stay INDOORS but that does not hold true in Flagstaff! Thankfully, we made it back safe and that was only a little test of what I will experience, since we (RJ, Co and I) leave tomorrow morning to head to the airport!

 (1) I thought this was a lot of snow but Kenzie just laughs and says this is nothing!
 (2) Amo making shoes (she put grocery bags over her tennis shoes!)
 (3) Ahhhh...I'm not ready to leave the safe garage with no snow!
(4) Amo and I trying to make it to the garage
 (5) Almost there....
(6) We had to stop for some fun...of course...but we finally made it to the garage!

Stuck in Flagstaff

Flagstaff did not have much snow this winter until now! The snow is beautiful but the snow has also trapped some of us here at NAU for an extra day. We are hoping that tomorrow the weather predictions are correct and the snow will clear up so we can all get out of here and enjoy our families for Winter Break! I love Flagstaff, but hopefully I can leave soon to see all my friends and family. Before I know it, it will be time to come back for Spring semester...but I have to leave first to come back...
-Ti'a loving the snow but patiently waiting to leave Flagstaff until next time

Christmas Love from Sechrist

After the Secret Snowflake exchange, RJ, KP and Rachel had gifts for everyone that they bought. Secret Snowflake with the staff was fun and definitely the best way to end the semester!
We went out with a bang! I just love my staff sooooo much....they are all irreplaceable!

Secret Snowflake

I was Colin's Secret Snowflake and he got me the best gift ever! The entire staff knows how much I love and miss USC so he brought a little bit of gamecock love all the way here at NAU in Flagstaff, Arizona. Colin got the perfect gift and I'm already using my awesome blanket!
Go Gamecocks!!!

Amo

Amo will also be leaving the staff next semester. Amo will truly be missed. There is not going to be anyone to scare me on rounds. There is not going to be anyone to say "Staff can't help" at staff meetings and bust out laughing. I will no longer hear Victor get serious and say Amoreena instead of Amo. Even with all the things I won't be able to hear, I'm grateful for all the memories I do have. I'm going to miss Amo but I realize that everyone has to do what is best for them in life. I'm proud of her and I know she will do great in whatever she takes on. I told Amo she has to come visit me in Sechrist all the time or I will find her around campus! Amo always knew how to make me laugh and had such a loving spirit. Amo can be Amo at times but even then she was still the best darn Amo I know! I hate to see her leave but I know she is doing what is best for her. Amo will be missed but she will never be forgotten...how could I with that laugh she has!
You go girl and show the world what you have to offer...Amo style!

Rachel

Rachel Booth is the rock to the Sechrist Staff and I hate to see her go. Without Rachel, we are going to have to have a lot of RA's step up and fill her shoes. Sometimes, I feel like we function just because she is here. Even though Rachel will be gone next semester, I know this staff will work had and make her proud of us. Rachel is a HRM major like RJ and is also going to work for Disney next semester. I am so proud of Rachel and I know she will do great at Disney and have a great time. I'm so glad she took up on this wonderful opportunity as this will make her an even better person with all the new experiences. I know Rachel will do great wherever she may go in life. She has a great personality and is a great team member. Rachel is a phenomenal leader and her talents are going to take her very far in life. I'm grateful for the time I was able to work with her and I hope some of her leaderships skills rubbed off a little on me. When I think of Rachel, I think of a strong, intelligent young woman who is going to make an impact on people's lives no matter where she may be. When I think of Rachel, I think of someone who is going to change this world for the better and I'm glad to be able to say I know Rachel Booth and she is not only a co-worker but a great friend.
You go show Disney what you can do girl!
